Vic: Woman's death sparks renovation safety warning
A building advisory service has issued a national safety warning to home renovators
after a Melbourne woman was killed undertaking work on her house.
Police believe the 56-year-old woman died when plasterboard sheets fell on her at the
Fitzroy North home yesterday.
Archicentre managing director ROBERT CAULFIELD says many people carrying out renovations
don't recognise the dangers involved.
He says home owners turning their houses into construction sites should continually
assess and remove hazards, such as tools, dust, equipment, and dangerous chemicals and
materials.
