Vic: Bracks govt will not be diverted by survey discontent
Treasurer JOHN BRUMBY says a survey showing widespread public discontent among Victorian
voters won't divert the state government from its aims.
A Herald Sun newspaper survey has found support for Premier STEVE BRACKS is at an all-time
low, but Mr BRUMBY says polls always jump around.
However, he accepts that 2003 has thrown up some unforseen problems -- the main one
being difficulties with contracts privatising public transport, drafted under the KENNETT
government.
The Herald Sun Issues of 2003 survey found that 80 per cent of the 28,000 respondents
believe public transport is not up to scratch.
Mr BRUMBY says the government has taken the right long term decisions for the state
and will not be deviating from that.
