Tas: Three spectators struck by car at Targa rally event = 2

An event spokeswoman said the three spectators suffered serious injuries and were rushed
to the Royal Hobart hospital.

It was believed the spectators, who were struck at the Targa Tasmania Hobart Domain
stage near the entrance to Government House, were Tasmanian.

The spokeswoman said event organiser Octagon was offering counselling to the injured
trio, their relatives and other competitors and officials involved.

"Immediately following the incident, extensive Targa Tasmania safety procedures were
implemented," she said in a statement.

"The Confederation of Australian Motor Sport (CAMS) will conduct a thorough investigation
into the incident.

"In the meantime, Targa Tasmania, CAMS and event officials are working with Tasmania
Police and other civil authorities."
