7DAYS LOVES...A

Checking if we're in trouble

While we may not love receiving any kind of car- related fine, we do love the fact that we can see how bad we've been online. The Dubai Police web site allows you to tap in your registration number and see if you have received any traffic fines. Even more useful, you can pay your fines online and avoid the shock of a massive payment when you re-register your vehicle. www.dubaipolice.gov.ae

An Arabian Night

We love heading down to Bastakiya, and after strolling through the galleries, tucking into a traditional Arabic meal among the wind towers. Bastakiya Nights offers a set menu, with a tantalisingly tasty buckwheat soup (make sure you squeeze the lemon provided into the soup to give it tang), delicious mezze starters and a choice of several main courses. Should you find an inch of empty space left at the end of the meal, the Arabic desserts and fresh fruit will ensure you leave groaning. 04 353 7772
