Luxembourg -- Infonet Services Corporation today announced that it is supplying Global Frame Relay and Remote Access services to the commercial and trading network of several major sectors of the ARBED Group, one of the world's leading steel manufacturers. By providing connectivity to these companies in more than 40 locations around the world, Infonet's services will enable the efficient deployment of the chosen ERP application, SAP.
The ARBED Group is established as one of Europe's leading producers offlat products and as a major supplier to the automotive industry. Infonet has been providing connectivity for Profil ARBED for almost ten years. When the ARBED Group decided to implement the ERP system, SAP, the performance of its internal data network became an urgent priority. The use of Infonet's Global Frame Relay Services will improve the response time and performance: of ARBED's network by at least 50%, providing the high performance infrastructure essential for the efficient deployment of mission critical applications.
In addition to more than 30 permanent connections, Infonet's DialXpress Branch Office will provide a secure and cost-effective dial-up solution for the companies' smaller offices and modem dial-up access for their mobile employees.

Independent evaluators from Alcatel and Tecsys then assessed Infonet on three criteria: its ability to complete within schedule, its accessibility to all five locations, and the performance of the network with simulated SAP traffic. Infonet scored 100% on all three."
